Frequently asked questions
Platform basics
What is Designed 2 Run (D2R)?
Designed 2 Run (D2R) is a process design, execution, and intelligence platform. You design structured workflows - or describe them and let AI build them - then run, measure, and improve them with governance built in from day one.
Who is D2R built for?
D2R serves the people who own how work gets done: operations managers and team leads who need visibility, COOs who need operational confidence, and compliance managers who need audit-ready evidence - all on the same platform.
How is D2R different from a task tracker like Asana, Monday, or Jira?
D2R governs recurring, structured processes - the ones that need to run the same way every time. It is not a general task tracker. The value is execution intelligence, governance, and analytics: proof of how work happened, not just a tick-box that it did.
How is D2R different from process mapping tools like Visio or Lucidchart?
Process maps describe how work should happen. D2R captures how it actually ran - with timestamps, ownership, step-level evidence, and exportable audit records. Design and execution live in one platform, not separate documents and spreadsheets.
Do we still need a task tracker if we use D2R?
Often, yes. D2R is not a replacement for general management. It is for recurring, structured processes that need consistent execution and provable evidence.
What kinds of processes work best in D2R?
D2R handles simple, few-step processes as well as more complex, multi-team processes where there are clear steps, multiple handoffs, and accountability requirements. Examples include client onboarding, compliance checks, quality reviews, operational workflows, and any process where "we did it" is not enough without proof of how.
Design & execution
What is Design Mode vs Run Mode?
Design Mode is where you build, review, and approve a process - with or without AI assistance. Run Mode is where live instances execute: step statuses, timing, ownership, notes, and evidence are captured as work happens.
Can the same process run many times at once?
Yes. D2R supports multiple concurrent instances of the same approved process. You can track which runs are in progress, completed, or overdue across your whole team from a single dashboard.
How do stakeholder sign-offs work?
During design, stakeholders review and approve the process before it goes live. Sign-off status, comments, and full approval history are recorded in the platform - governance is built into design, not bolted on afterwards.
What happens when a process changes after it has been approved?
D2R versions processes. New runs use the latest approved version. Completed and in-progress runs retain their original record, so you always know exactly which version was executed.
Governance & evidence
Is D2R suitable for regulated industries?
Yes. D2R is built for organisations that need provable process execution - regulated businesses, professional services firms, and growing teams scaling beyond founder-led operations. Every run, version, and sign-off is captured automatically for audit and compliance.
What is a Completion Certificate?
A Completion Certificate is generated automatically at the end of every process run in D2R. It is timestamped, exportable, and includes a verified step ledger - ready for audits, quality reviews, or insurance renewals without reconstructing evidence after the fact.
What evidence does D2R capture during a run?
Each run records step completion, timestamps, durations, ownership, attachments, and in-context notes or questions. The result is a verified ledger of what happened, when, and by whom - not a retrospective reconstruction.
Can we export audit evidence?
Yes. Completion Certificates export as PDF, PNG, or XLSX with a verified step ledger. You can share audit-ready evidence without pulling screenshots and emails together after the fact.
How does D2R help before an audit or quality review?
Evidence is captured as work happens. When an audit or review arrives, you already have timestamped execution records, sign-off history, and exportable certificates - instead of scrambling to prove what occurred weeks or months earlier.
AI
Does D2R use AI?
D2R can help you draw up and generate workflows as part of Design Mode. We have an AI Insights add-on that scans your process design and run data, and provides insights into efficiencies, blockages, risks, consistency, etc. This is available once you have runs on the board so as to generate pattern insights.
How does the AI Process Generator work?
Describe a process and D2R produces a structured, runnable workflow you can review, refine, and approve. It accelerates design - it does not bypass governance or sign-off.
Will D2R automate our processes automatically?
No. D2R starts with visibility and governance. Automation is introduced where your execution data shows it is safe and worthwhile - not as a black-box replacement.
Is our data used to train AI models?
Your process and execution data is used to operate the D2R platform for your organisation. We do not use your data to train general-purpose AI models. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle information.
Getting started
Is D2R generally available?
D2R is currently available through our Founding Partners program - a small cohort of organisations working directly with us. We are not offering self-serve sign-up yet.
What does Founding Partner onboarding look like?
Founding Partners get direct access to both founders, hands-on working sessions to build their first three processes, and a monthly check-in throughout the founding period. The goal is a running process in your first week, not a tutorial video.
Who is a good fit for Founding Partners?
Organisations with a specific process problem to solve, a team involved in execution, willingness to run three processes in the first three weeks, and openness to sharing honest feedback.
See the Pricing page for more on the program and how to apply.
Security & data
Where is our data stored?
We store personal information in Australia. Some data may be accessed from or transferred to locations outside Australia when using cloud-based services - as described in our Privacy Policy.
Who can see process execution data?
Access is limited to users within your organisation's D2R workspace, based on the roles and permissions you configure. Execution records are visible to the people who need them to run, review, or govern the process.
Still have questions? Apply as a Founding Partner and we'll talk through your processes directly.
Ready to see how your processes
actually run?
Designed to run. Built to prove it.
